How The Auto Parts Industry Is Being Reinvented By Technology

Automobiles have changed a lot since they were first invented. From the horse-and-buggy to the Tesla, transportation has advanced significantly with the rise of technology. Today, more and more developments are being made, especially in the auto parts industry. While the design of your car may remain the same, the inner workings are changing in a big way. To learn more about how technology is changing auto parts, take a look at these top 5 developments below.

3D Printing

3D printing is one of the biggest technological innovations for the auto industry. As it continues to develop, auto parts of all kinds will be produced at a much cheaper and faster rate. Printing auto parts will not only speed up the process for manufacturers, it will also make things that much easier for mechanics when they are doing repairs on vehicles like the Audi Q7 features. This technology is still catching on, but in a few years you may find that most of the auto parts under your hood were printed.

Driver Override

Autonomous cars and driver override are changing the way that auto parts are built, used and made. Now, technology and computer programs are being implemented more commonly. Driver override systems are using sensors to help cars make smarter decisions for travel. For example, if a driver cannot apply the brakes in time, the car can take over. Some cars even offer parallel park assist. Overall, technology is playing a significant role in the creation of sensors and other auto parts.

Biometric Access

Many phones and other tech devices use biometric access. When you place your fingerprint on the home button, it scans and provides access to your smartphone. Soon, cars will operate under the same premise. Instead of a key or fob, you will be able to open and start your car just with the touch of your hand. This technology is definitely going to have a huge impact on the auto parts industry. Instead of locks and keys, cars will have fingerprint scanners or other biometric readers!

Augmented Reality

Augmented reality is another type of technology that is growing in popularity with the automobile industry. Items like the Heads Up Display use AR devices to project information onto the driver’s windshield. It is a great way to seamlessly incorporate electronic media into the driving experience. This can be helpful with GPS directions or accident prevention. Soon, auto parts will feature augmented reality technology.

Solar Panels

Finally, solar panels are another form of technology that is influencing the auto parts industry. These microchips form panels, which can be placed on the outside of cars, can be used to charge car batteries. Additionally, they can even power the air conditioner or infotainment system so that consumers save on gas. Consumers should definitely look forward to the day when these become a standard auto parts feature.

Auto parts are becoming better than ever with the increase of tech resources. Solar panel energy for your battery could be very beneficial to drivers. Improved safety features and augmented reality are slowly making their way into the market. As 3D printing and technology continue to improve, so do your auto parts!

  1. Thank you for this wonderful article, I may not be able to comment much about other advancements but surely i can say at least about 3D printing and that is because we are a 3D printing service company and we did many projects related to auto parts for our clients. with metal 3D printing i believe its not too far when auto manufacturing companies would 3D print the engines of the cars too.
