Semiconductor industry association is working with global leaders and top cloud computing companies to promote fair trade. The initiative is known as the governments/authorities meeting on semiconductors or CAMPS. These leaders, government officials and influences from China, Europe, Japan, Korea and United States, meet to address issues that could affect the global semiconductor market. Their main goal is to promote fair trade and healthy competition in the technology markets.
An important initiative known as MCO, which stands for multi-component semiconductors, effects products from iPhones, digital cameras, CCTVs and a slew of other digital products. This initiative would help to create new innovative semiconductor products and pull away from the dependency on a specific material like silicon, encouraging production of semiconductors that use other material combinations. Also, the MCO helps provide economic growth and jobs for growing technology sectors internationally.
SIA Provides Tons Of Resources
The semiconductor industry Association, or SIA, is great example of an industry’s ability to come together and promote fair trade. With so many major countries coming together, there are a lot of resources at hand. No doubt, the digital business semiconductors affect the majority of the world’s population, so it is justified. To avoid any potential downsides, it’s good to have a organization like this one in place, mitigating risks and creating opportunities.
Over 250,000 Employed
Furthermore, promoting fair trade within the semiconductor industry is important to over 250,000 people employed in the United States. These are not just consumers, but technicians, says people and executives too. This population accounts for more than 80% of United States semiconductor production. Although, this does not include the millions of people who use semiconductor-related products. As you can imagine, that population is huge.
Top Semiconductor Companies
You may be wondering where these 250,000 thousand individuals are employed. Well, there is a lot of competition when it comes to the semiconductor business. However, the top semiconductor sales belonged to these three companies in the past year –
- Intel
- Samsung
- TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company)
Unfortunately in 2016, these companies all recorded losses of roughly six percent. However, Intel proved their dominance in the industry by increasing their lead over Samsung, the second place finisher, to over 40%. It is clear that in 2016, Intel is the best semiconductor company out there.
Intel
Intel is, without a doubt, one of the top semiconductor companies in the world. Intel Corp. manufactures integrated devices, including motherboard chipsets, network interface controllers and integrated circuits. These Intel gadgets help power the ever improving and expanding Internet of Things. Intel was responsible for the world’s first metal oxide semiconductor, solidifying their success long ago. Intel has over 106,000 employees, $55.9 billion in sales, $92 billion in assets and $169 billion market capitalization. Clearly, they are the semiconductor company to beat.
It is nice to know that there are technology associations that are working together for a common good. It would be great to share this post. Perhaps, we will create a digital candy storm to promote more good causes online.
Can you think of other industries that have collaborated towards fair trade? What do you think is most important within the semiconductor industry? Feel more questions about semiconductors, please let us know in the comments below.
